Sydney Day #2

Another day in sunny Sydney, another run. This time, the Ninja Turtle and Sonic the Hedgehog did a leisurely and scenic 4-miler around Sydney’s hottest tourist spot – Circular Quay. They started at Darlinghurst in the city, rolled down towards the water and onto Mrs Macquaries Rd, round the Chair, around the Botanic Gardens, up to the Opera House, and finished at the Harbor Bridge.

It must be quite a popular running route among the locals as well, as they weren’t the only ones out having a quick shuffle while soaking in the rays.

Local wildlife! This was one of several packs of runners they came across, and judging by their speed, these guys meant business.

Gambling? we hear you ask. Yes, it’s the Melbourne Cup Day in Australia, which meant half of Sydney was not at work, and the other half took an extra long lunch break to hang out in the pubs to watch the race.

The Ninja Turtle and Sonic the Hedgehog rewarded themselves post-run with a pub meal in one of the many dining options at The Rocks. Looking around, they felt ridiculously under-dressed compared to everyone else around. Still, it was an awesome lunch and an awesome Day #2 in Sydney.

  1. What a nice run. I love jogging in big cities as you can see so much. Yet, I didn’t feel like making that many photos. Don’t you feel disturbed in “your running”?

    • Definitely, but you know, when on holiday, it’s best to just let go of the splits and speed, and focus on having fun and enjoying the moment. Run to get from Point A to Point B to Point C etc, but always stop when a good view presents itself. You’ll kick yourself afterwards if you’re too busy focusing on your pace and performance.
Tip: Run slowly if you love your camera. Don’t want any nasty accidents now. 😉
